Jeffrey, Robin, Lester and Nicholas (from left to right) worked on the NIKIN project alongside their jobs and studies.
In the first part of the blog series, you saw how Nicholas and Robin ordered the first 60 Treeanies and sold them immediately. Shortly afterwards, hundreds of people ordered the hats. Nobody expected such a rush. Some of them worked night shifts until 3 a.m. and then went back to their day jobs in the morning. As a result, they urgently needed active support. Robin therefore quickly involved his whole family in the small business. The Gnehm family supported NIKIN wherever they could. Robin's parents sewed the labels onto the treeanies.
Robin's parents sewed the labels onto the treeanies late into the night.
As Nicholas and Robin were both active scouts, their main aim with their project was to plant trees. The fact that so many people wanted to join the global reforestation effort was an unexpected - but very, very positive - surprise. Robin's two brothers Jeffrey and Lester also helped out in the young company. Lester, who is actually employed 100% as a gardener, took over the logistics and sent out the NIKIN parcels after work.
Lester Gnehm spent hours after work sending NIKIN parcels.
Jeffrey took over the communication of NIKIN and continues to do so today.
It was clear that NIKIN quickly needed its own warehouse. So NIKIN moved into a warehouse in Seengen, which previously housed a small greengrocer's store.
This small house in Seengen was the first official NIKIN warehouse.
After work, the NIKIN employees packaged the products and delivered them personally to Seenger Post. The demand for NIKIN products continued to rise rapidly. NIKIN quickly blocked Seenger Post for half an hour every evening. It took time for all the parcels to be posted.
A small article in the Aargauer Zeitung shows how many parcels NIKIN has brought to the Seenger Post.
